Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how ScoutLoot ("we", "our", or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website at scoutloot.com.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They help the website remember your preferences and improve your browsing experience.
2. Cookies We Use
ScoutLoot uses minimal cookies to provide essential functionality. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| scoutloot_session | Keeps you logged in (httpOnly, signed) | Session (until logout) |
| user_country | Remembers your ship-to country for accurate deal pricing | 1 year |
| language | Remembers your language preference | 1 year |
3. Local Storage
In addition to cookies, we use browser local storage to:
- Cache your user profile and session for faster page loads
- Remember your cookie consent preference
- Store UI state such as filter selections and dashboard preferences
- Cache gamification data (achievements, rank)
- Temporarily store signup attribution data (UTM parameters, referrer) in session storage
Local storage data remains on your device until you clear your browser data or log out.
4. Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly and GDPR-compliant analytics service that we self-host. Plausible:
- Does not use cookies
- Does not collect personal data or IP addresses
- Does not track you across websites
- Provides us with aggregate page view statistics only
We do not use Google Analytics, heatmaps, session recordings, or behavioural tracking tools.
5. Conversion Pixels
When a new user signs up, we fire a conversion event to:
- Google Ads: A signup conversion event is sent to Google to measure advertising effectiveness. No personal data (no email, no user ID) is transmitted.
- Reddit: A signup conversion event is sent to Reddit for the same purpose. No personal data is transmitted.
These pixels only fire once on signup. They do not track your browsing behaviour, do not set persistent cookies for retargeting, and do not collect personal information.
6. Third-Party Services
Our website loads resources from the following third-party services:
- Google Fonts: We load fonts from fonts.googleapis.com. Google may set cookies according to their own privacy policy.
We do not share any of your personal data with these services beyond what is necessary to load the resources.
7. Managing Cookies
You can control and manage cookies in several ways:
- Browser Settings: Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or delete existing cookies. Check your browser's help documentation for instructions.
- Logging Out: When you log out of ScoutLoot, your session data is cleared.
- Clear Local Storage: You can clear local storage through your browser's developer tools or by clearing all site data.
Note: Disabling cookies may prevent you from logging in to ScoutLoot, as we require the session cookie to maintain your login.
8. Do Not Track
ScoutLoot does not track users across websites. We respect Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals. Our Plausible Analytics installation honours DNT by default.
9. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
10. More Information
